The Montreal River flows between Ironwood, far side, and Hurley, under two former railroad bridges Wednesday afternoon. The bridge in the foreground is the former Soo Line Railroad structure built in 1898. Behind it, upstream and to the south, is the former Chicago and North Western Railroad bridge. It was built in 1911. The C & N bridge is now used by snowmobiles and the Soo Line bridge is included an effort to create a walking trail across the region.
