STACEY PREISS, Secretary and Rich Ernest, Chairman of the Ontonagon Area All School Reunion slated for July 24-25 appear before the Ontonagon Village Council to request that River Street in Ontonagon be closed off for the kick off dance of the 2015 celebration.
ONTONAGON - Five thousands Letters have been sent to Ontonagon Area School alumni inviting them to the All School reunion July 24-25. It is the first fully automated reunion with much of the replies and planning done through the internet.
Julie Johnson, treasurer of the reunion committee said that returns are good and individual class meetings are being disseminated through the internet.
Rich Ernest is the Chairman and Stacey Preiss is secretary of the committee. The trio agreed to take over the reunion when Andy Lockhart, who spearheaded all the other reunions, retired.
Registration for the reunion will be held at the Ontonagon Area High School Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday morning. Packets and tee shirts can be picked up there as well as lists of the various class activities. Johnson said two events are aimed at all the alumni with many individual events slated by the different classes.
Friday, July 24 there will be a street dance on River Street. About three blocks will be blocked off, according to Ernest and an outdoor band will be featured. Ernest said there will also be security provided.
Saturday, July 25 the Ontonagon Recreation Center will be the scene for a dance and gathering with national disk jockey Mike Harvey entertaining and playing music.
Saturday from 11-2 p.m. classes from the 1940's through 1955 will hold a soup luncheon at the Holy Family Church Hall. Other class activities will be held at various places including the Ontonagon Township Campground, Legion Building, Pauls restaurant and various bars. The dates and times are listed on the 2015 Ontonagon All School reunion computer site. Dan Floyd is also chairing a golf tourney at the Ontonagon Golf Course during the reunion.
Johnson cautioned alumni to register on the site and send in the $35 fee which makes them eligible for a T-shirt. "We need the sizes so alumni can be assured they have one. She said some of the money is also allocated to the individual class activity.
