Lenore A. Prezkop

MELLEN, Wis. - Lenore A. Prezkop, 87, of Hurley, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at Mellen Manor Nursing Home in Mellen.

The former Lenore A. Panizza was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Ironwood, Mich., daughter of the late Steve and Anna (Bartoluzza) Panizza. She attended Hurley schools and graduated from J.E. Murphy High School as valedictorian of the Class of 1945. She then was employed as a secretary at various insurance agencies in Ironwood and worked in the same capacity for the Iron County Forestry Department, University Extension and Iron County Register of Deeds, retiring in 1991.

Lenore was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.

On July 28, 1954, she was married to Frank P. Prezkop at St. Mary of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Hurley by the late Monsignor Michael Prock. Frank preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2013.

Surviving are two sons, Michael (Patricia), Bowling Green, Ohio, and Frank, Hurley; three grandchildren, Tanya, Douglas and Cole Prezkop; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lenore was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Panizza.

Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.

Luncheon will follow at the Liberty Bell Chalet in downtown Hurley.

Rite of Committal and interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mellen Manor Nursing Home, 450 Lake Drive, Mellen, WI 54546, or Regional Hospice Services, 100 S. Mill St., Bessemer, MI 49911.
