IRONWOOD, Mich. — Frank “Hub” Holevac, 98, of N10305 Sunset View St. in Bessemer, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Ironwood. He was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Anvil, son of the late Marc and Manda (Komadina) Holevac.
Frank attended local schools, graduating from A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer in 1934.
He began employment with Pickands Mather Company on Aug. 8, 1935. He worked for 29 years at the local district mines, and for one year at Erie Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes, Minn., as an iron ore analyst. He also worked with Universal Machine Company for five years, and then part-ime with the Gogebic County Road Commission until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and the Steel Worker Organization of Active Retirees.
On Sept. 27, 1938, he was united in marriage to Jean Sandin. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1985.
Frank is survived by one son, Glenn (Julie) Holevac. of Swartz Creek; and one daughter, Sandra (Paul) Dural. of Owosso; three grandchildren, Douglas, Glenn Jr., and Juli; and eight great-grandchildren.
A private family service was held. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer.
