MARSHFIELD, Wis. - Richard "Rich" Hoffmann, 61, of Mercer, passed away April 26, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, with his family by his side.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1954, in Chicago. He went to Washburn Trade School in Chicago after graduating in 1972 from St. Patrick's High School. His family moved to Mercer in 1990 to the Hideaway Bay Resort on Fisher Lake for 16 years. Along with his carpentry work and concrete work, he also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Manitowish Waters as a carrier for eight years.
He loved fishing and taking rides on his pontoon boat. He loved to garden and gave away most of what was grown to others who needed it. He was also an avid Chicago Bears fan.
He was married to his high school sweetheart, Sandy (nee Hopp) since 1974. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Christine (Phillip) Heniff; two grandchildren, Cole and Paige Heniff; a special sister-in-law, Noreen (Rene) Hopp; and a special nephew, Michael Ciro. His mother, Helen Hoffmann, also survives, along with many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Hoffmann, and a sister, Shirley Fogt.
Cremation has taken place and no service will be held, according to the deceased's wishes.
