HURLEY — Golfers couldn't see the greens and most of them couldn't feel their hands.
Hurley's Jake Tenlen still managed to shoot a 40 on the front nine at Eagle Bluff and be medalist by eight strokes at Monday's Hurley Invitational.
"Home-course advantage, I guess," Hurley coach Jeff Tenlen said.
The Midgets won the event with a score of 192. Chequamegon finished at 201 and Prentice had 220.
It was relatively warm until it started to rain heavily not long after the invite started. The fog rolled in right away and it was miserable.
"You know the direction of the greens," Jake Tenlen said. "It's kind of like Mellen last year, you just pick a point to aim, hit it there and hope it works out all right."
Tenlen was trying to keep his hands warm the entire evening, but it was a losing battle. Even numb hands didn't slow him down.
"I just missed in the right spots, so I had easier chips and I rolled in some putts. I missed a few, but I rolled in my fair share," Jake said.
Morgan Pinardi was second for Hurley and tied for fourth overall with a 50, Noah Huotari and Adam Hendricks carded 51s and Eli Harma had a 53.
The Northern Wisconsin Golf Conference meet with the same teams is today at 1 p.m. at Eagle Bluff As long as the snow forecast to arrive isn't sticking to the ground, they plan to play.
