MIKE MEYERS, of Give 'em a Brake Signage Company of Marquette, installs a detour sign along Jackson Road in Ironwood Township near Gogebic Community College. The signs are in preparation for the reconstruction project of one mile of U.S. 2 in Ironwood between Curry and Roosevelt streets. The closure, which takes effect today, will require traffic traveling westbound on U.S. 2 to detour on Jackson Road to Greenbush Street before rejoining U.S. 2. Eastbound U.S. 2 traffic will continue on the highway, but be restricted to one-lane travel. All businesses in the project will remain open and parking is available along side streets and behind many businesses, according to an MDOT official. The project is expected to last until October.
