Rita A. Grasso

STURTEVANT, Wis. - Rita Ann Grasso, 79, passed away at Racine Hospice House on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.

Rita was born in Ironwood, Mich., on Oct. 3, 1935, to Michael and Lucille (nee Gravitz) Cvengros. Rita was married in Ironwood at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church to Joseph Grasso on June 30, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Rita spent most of her life living in Sturtevant, where she was an active and faithful member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, feeding the birds, watching the Packers play and participating in the activities of her grandchildren. Her family and faith were most important to her, and she was happiest in the company of her family.

Rita is survived by her loving children, Glenn (Becky) Grasso of Cambridge, Catherine (Warren) Geyer of Mount Pleasant, and David (Lynn) Grasso of Sturtevant; and her "pride and joy" grandchildren, Cory Grasso of Cambridge, and Kayla Grasso and Samantha Grasso both of Sturtevant. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Jane) Cvengros of Hurley; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Barbara) Grasso of South Milwaukee, Mary Strelcheck of Bessemer, Mich., Lucille Dovichi of Menominee and Michael (JoAnne) Grasso of Bad Axe, Mich .; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Irene Christman and Marge Gruenwald. Rita was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Rose Grasso.

The funeral Mass for Rita Grasso was held in her beloved St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant on March 31, 2015. Private interment at West Lawn Memorial Park took place on April 1.

Rita's family asks that friends consider donations in Rita's memory to St. Sebastian's Catholic Church.
