MENTOR, Ohio - William "Bill" M. Mattson, 73, of Mentor, died on May 18, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
Bill was born on Sept. 26, 1941, in Erwin Township, Mich., to William and Selma (Aho) Mattson. He attended Erwin Central School and Luther L. Wright High School, graduating with the class of 1959.
Bill was employed as an inspector in road construction in Ohio.
Bill enjoyed his visits to Erwin Township and his family home site with its pond. The annual picnic at the Erwin Town Hall was a highlight as he could be with family and friends. His hope was to relocate to the Ironwood area.
Surviving are his daughter, Janeese (Paul) Norrix and granddaughter, Jillian Norrix, of Seminole, Fla .; his son, William, and grandchildren Jessica and Kyler Mattson, of Burgettstown, Pa; his brother Glen Mattson (Rose Bunjovac, of Rochester Hills, Mich .; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as Diane Pentek, mother of his children; special friends, Dennis Concoby and Don Snowbrick, and fellow members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Painesville, Ohio, who were by his side during his illnesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Kenneth Mattson, Eleanor Anderson, Eileen Anderson, Carl Mattson, Evelyn Anderson, Laverne Mattson and Rev. John M. Mattson.

Cremation has taken place. A private memorial will take place at a later time.
