HARWOOD HEIGHTS, Ill. — Mary Bogan, 92, of Harwood Heights, formerly of Bessemer, Mich., died Friday, May 15, 2015, in Illinois.
She was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Bessemer, daughter of the late John and Cristina (Costa) Pertile.
Mary attended local schools and graduated from the A.D. Johnston High School in Bessemer with the class of 1942. In 1949, she was married to Leonard Bogan in Bessemer. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She enjoyed yard work, knitting and crossword puzzles, but especially spending time at their cabin on Clearwater Lake in Watersmeet, Mich.
Mary was also very active in the Moose Lodge and in the neighboring area, where she had many close friends.
She is survived by her sister, Dora Bogan, of Ironwood, Mich .; nieces and nephews, Dennis (Barbara) Bogan, of Red Wing, Minn., Tom Bogan, of Tucson, Ariz., Raymond (Linda) Kuduk, of Hurley, Wis., Annette (Jim) Bale, of Ironwood Township, Mich., Carol (Jim) Saari, of Ironwood, Jean Ann Kuduk, of South Carolina, Catherine Bogan (Tom Nelson), of Lake Villa, Ill., Ruth Hall, of Sharpsburg, Ga., Robert (MJ) Gaal, of Hidden Springs, Idaho, and Sandra Dmytro, of Woodale, Ill., among other relatives and close friends.
Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Pertile, an infant brother, Benjamin “Benny;” and a sister, Rose (Adam) Kuduk.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Bessemer. Rev. Antony Lukka will be the celebrant.
Mary’s family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. at the church on that Friday. Inurnment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.
