HURLEY, Wis. - Anton "Tony" M. Lysczyk, 94, of Hurley, died Saturday, May 30, 2015, in Hurley. He was born May 20, 1921, in Bessemer, Mich., son of the late Michael and Amelia (Faderowicz) Lysczyk.
Tony attended Bessemer schools, graduating from the A.D. Johnston High School with the class of 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a crew chief for the 3rd Pursuit Squadron for the U.S. Army Air Force. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
He is survived by his devoted life partner of more than 60 years, Marcia (Kay) Lyon; two daughters, Jane Holland of North Carolina and Jean Bodden of Florida; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by siblings Ann, Amelia, Josephine, Joseph and Albina.
Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley. A military graveside service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bessemer. The Bessemer American Legion Post 27 and VFW Post 3673 combined honor guard will conduct the service.
Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
