WAKEFIELD - 75 participants gathered near Sunday Lake in Wakefield Saturday morning for New Beginnings Pregnancy Support Services' annual walk, run and roll fundraiser.
Organizers were pleased with the turnout that the annual event generated.
"(I'm) pleased with the turnout," said New Beginnings Board chair Diana Friedli. "All different groups of people and ages, from people in their 70s I see all the way down to babies in strollers. It's a family event."
Even though the skies were overcast, the weather cooperated for the most part and the day was perfect for the event, organizers said.
"It's a beautiful day, the weather is cool so its good for walking running and rolling," said Mary Challice, a volunteer helping with the event.
The event featured a lap around Sunday Lake followed by a lunch cooked by members from the local Knights of Columbus and awards ceremony recognizing the top finishers in each category as well as other distinctions such as "most decorated bicycle," according to Friedli.
