WAKEFIELD — Michigan State Police’s Wakefield Post is opening its doors to the community during its annual open house on Friday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the post at 100 Sunday Lake St. residents will get to interact with representatives from a variety of public safety departments, including the MSP, Wakefield Fire Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Corrections Ojibway Correctional Facility and others.
“We’re going to have our SWAT team with what they call a ‘bearcat’ (armored vehicle), that will be here. We have the folks from our dive team with a boat that will be doing presentations, our canine unit, and we have a mobile command center that is up from downstate,” MSP Trooper Jerry Mazurek said.
“We’re going to have one of our traffic reconstructionists on site and one of the DNR conservation officers will be on-site to answer any questions,” Mazurek said.
“There will be a lot going on on Friday,” he added.
Mazurek will create child identification kits during the event.
