BESSEMER — Martha M. Rosiek, 89, of Bessemer, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield.
Martha was born on July 12, 1925, in Ironwood Township, daughter of William and Minnie Backman. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in 1943.
She married Edward Rosiek in 1950 who preceded her in death on May 16, 1994.
Martha loved animals, the beautiful outdoors of the U.P., and her family. She taught her children to ski at an early age. They loved her homemade apple pies she made from the wild apples they picked. Martha’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren made many summer trips to the U.P. to visit, and they enjoyed going to her favorite spots together: Black River Harbor, Sunday Lake Park and the Indianhead Lodge pool.
Martha will be greatly missed by son, Edward (Sally) Rosiek of Camarillo, Calif .; daughter, Renee (Per) Anderson of Harbor City, Calif .; grandchildren, Michelle (Russell) Lawrence, of Whittier, Calif., Christian Anderson of Harbor City, Calif., and Stacy (Alex) Johnson of Ellendale, N.D .; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Anderson-Yoxsimer, Cameron Lawrence and Isabelle Joy Johnson.
A private graveside service was held on June 25, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bessemer.
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.’” — John 11:25-26.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” — Revelation 21:4.
