IRONWOOD — Some blight issues and major payments will be considered by the Ironwood City Commission this evening.
The meeting will begin at 5:20 p.m. with a public hearing on a blight violation at 225 Frenchtown Road.
During the regular agenda, the commission will consider rejecting a demolition bid for blighted property at 206 Southwest St. and may seek a rebid.
The following partial and final payments will be acted on:
—A partial payment to Ross Peterson Construction, Hurley, of $21,896 for construction of the Art Park on Aurora Street.
—A partial payment to Peterson of $136,562 for work on the Michigan Western Gateway Trail project.
—A final payment to Angelo Luppino, Inc,, of Iron Belt, Wis., of $57,342 for 2014 street paving projects.
—A partial payment of $611,601 to Northwoods Paving, of Kimball, Wis., for the 2015 city street paving project that was approved in a special millage vote by city residents.
—A partial payment of $48,970 to Penshura, LLC, Super iorPlay, for Longyear Park playground equipment.
—Payments totaling more than $436,000 for water and sewer work on the phase 3 utility project, financed through the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development.
In other business, the city commission will consider a resolution on all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile access to city streets.
Commissioners will also consider approving a resolution that would place 12 amendments to the city charter on the ballot for the November election. The 12 provisions are currently in conflict with state law.
