IRONWOOD - A semi-truck driver knocked down utility lines on Houk Street on Tuesday afternoon.
According to an Xcel Energy employee on the scene, a semi truck driver traveling on the street was too tall and snagged the wires, causing two poles to break. Wires ended up on the ground.
Electricity, telephone and cable service was interrupted in the area, including three residences on Houk Street.
The Xcel Energy employee said the driver left the scene but later found by police.
Jim Kilponen, one of the residents who lost power, said he heard a loud noise and then lost power.
"I heard a thump, and my power went off," he said. "Then my neighbors contacted me and told me what happened."
Ironwood Public Safety investigated the incident but no report was available at press time.
