Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
FOWLERVILLE, Mich. - Carl Azzoli, 72, a summer resident of Hurley, Wis., for the past 20 years, passed away Feb. 27, 2015.
Carl served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he hired on with AT&T and remained with them until his retirement after 32 years.
Carl's parents, brother and two sisters precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda (Liimakka) Azzoli, a prior resident of Ironwood; three wonderful children, Jeffrey (Kristie), Teresa (Dave) and Nick (Deanna); grandchildren, Curtis and Dylan Nichols, Jeff Jr., Sierra, Meagan, Carlito and Lucas Azzoli; step-grandchildren, Tiffany (Dan), Stephanie (Dan) and Jon; and three great-grandchildren, Daniel, Lydia and Anthony. Carl would be thrilled to learn Nick and Deanna will be adding their first grandchild to the clan. (I know he knows and has a huge smile!)
Carl is also survived by his extended family and always friends, Tony and Jackee Gutowski, and Jim and Mary Ludlow. Also the many nieces and nephews and cousins whom he leaves.
Carl so enjoyed his times in Ironwood and being a member at Eagle Bluff Golf Course. He enjoyed the many great times with family and friends over the years and the wonderful charm of the North Country just suited him.
A memorial service was shared with relatives and friends in Fowlerville, however, Carl's wishes are to be laid to rest here where he felt so comfortable.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Military Rites under the auspices of American Legion Post 5 Honor Guard of Ironwood.
A casual gathering of family and friends will be held at his Eagle Bluff condo following the service.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood. Private online condolences may be sent to [email protected].
