WOODRUFF, Wis. - Mary Jane Zaleski, 87, of Hurley, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Seasons of Life in Woodruff. She was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Hurley.
Mary Jane attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from the J.E. Murphy High School in Hurley. She was employed at Ben Franklin in Hurley, and was also employed at the Holiday Inn and Villa Maria as a housekeeper. Mary Jane was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and enjoyed attending services. She loved to drop everything and "get up and go." She also enjoyed watching soap operas. Mary Jane especially enjoyed her "special" grandkids, Hung Chow, Lexi, Sahara Bear, Ella, Willow and Joseph.
On Oct. 26, 1947, she was married to Leonard V. Zaleski Sr. in Hurley. He survives.
Also surviving are eight children; Leonard (Geri) Zaleski Jr., of Hurley, Diane Zaleski-Wilming, of Black River Falls, Ronald (Marlene) Zaleski, of Bessemer, Jeanne (Andy Sr.) Saari, of Ironwood, Dennis (Ann Spees) Zaleski, of Montreal, Cynthia (Fritz) Churm, of Green Bay, Jackie (Joe Templer) Zaleski, of Hurley, and Sheri (Gary) Stano, of Ironwood; nine grandchildren, Vincent, Tracy, Andy Jr., Amanda, Christine, Pamela, Aaron, Julie and Ben; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mary and Stanley Gulan; and also two sons-in-law, Ivan Curry and Bernard Wilming.
Private family services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley on Friday, July 31, 2015. Father Frank Kordek celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Range Funeral Service and Crematory and the Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Hurley and Ironwood has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
