HURLEY, Wis. - Margaret A. Gulan, 94, of Ironwood Mich., formerly of Hurley, died peacefully Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley, surrounded by her family.
The former Margaret A. Levra was born July 1, 1921, in Iron Belt, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Perrero) Levra.
She was married to John H. Gulan on June 19, 1946, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Iron Belt. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1981.
Surviving are two sons, Paul (Cheryl), Ashland, and Jim "Eric", The Plains, Va .; two daughters, Bonnie Gulan, Ironwood Township, and Peggy (Dan) Parker, Madison; six grandchildren, Ryan Gulan, Nicole Cherney, Joseph Gulan, Rae-Marie Gulan, John Parker and Miranda Santini; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Roskam, Hale Gulan, Campbell Gulan and Cole Cherney; a brother, George (Mary Ann) Levra, Iron Belt; sister, Louise Levra, Chicago; daughter-in-law, Jan Gulan (Jerry Eklund), Ironwood Township; sisters-in-law, Carol Ozzello, Wakefield, Mich., Martha Hojnaki, Chicago, and Shirley Gulan, North Fort Myers, Fla .; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by a son, John "Red," on Nov. 4, 1985; two daughters, Mary Margaret and Mary, at birth; three brothers, John, Joseph and Anton Levra; and four sisters, Catherine Snarski, Mary Levra, Agnes Gulan and Thomasina Gulan.
Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.
Rite of Committal and interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Ironwood.
Luncheon will be served in the parish hall upon return from the cemetery.
