Carol E. Giese

ARBOR VITAE, Wis. - Carol E. Giese, 90, passed away July 19, 2015, at Avanti Health and Rehab Center in Arbor Vitae.

She was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Ironwood, Mich., the daughter of John Hassinen and Marie Lyons (nee Hassinen).

She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood in 1942 and from there attended Carroll University in Waukesha, graduating in 1946.

Carol was united in marriage to Carlie Giese on April 21, 1951, in Ironwood at the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

As a resident of Watersmeet, Mich., for more than 60 years, she and her husband were managers of the Fisher properties, which included Sylvania. After retirement, she spent many winters in Tucson, Ariz., and in recent years resided in Arbor Vitae.

Her parents; her husband; one brother, John Hassinen; and four sisters, Mildred Armitage, Dorothy Hausmann, Mickey Maccani and Ruth Jansen preceded her in death.

She is survived by four nephews, Lee Maccani, James Maccani, John Hassinen and Kristopher Jensen; two nieces, Judy Martin and Janet Gennari; eight great-nephews; two great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; four great-great-nieces; and other dear relatives and friends.

In respect of Carol's wishes, cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., at Hope Lutheran Church in Land O'Lakes. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Rib Falls.
