DULUTH, Minn. — Don A. Sobolewski, 51, of Ironwood Township, Mich., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, in Duluth, after a courageous battle with cancer. His doctors often referred to him as the miracle man.
Don was born Jan. 26, 1964, in Wakefield, Mich., son of the late Sharon Sobolewski. He attended Ironwood schools, graduating from the Luther L. Wright High School with the class of 1983.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserve, and he was a member of Wakefield American Legion Post 11. Don had been employed for 19 years at Action Floors in Mercer, Wis. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan, and he enjoyed the outdoors and four-wheeling.
He is survived by his fiancé, Sherri Rock, of Ironwood Township; two sons, Don (Kamie) Sobolewski, of Eau Claire, Wis., and Cody (Amanda) Mattson, of Bessemer; four daughters, Misty (Josh) Simonar, of Manitowoc, Wis., Rachel (Bill Morgan) Bennett and Romanda (Scott Dudley) Sobolewski, both of Battle Creek, Mich., and Caitlin (Dennis Allen) Sobolewski, of Bartlett, Ill .; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry (Debbie) Sobolewski, of Barron, Wis., Bruce (Robin) Sobolewski, of Holmen, Wis., and Doug (Heidi) Sobolewski, of Oma, Wis .; one sister, Tanya (Dave) Obremski, of Ironwood; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He is also survived by close friends Donna and Mike Contos, Mike Prenderville, and Mike and Troy Bastman.
Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood.
