Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
BOISE, Idaho — E. William Lindberg, 79, of Wells, Nev., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Boise, with his wife and three daughters at his side.
Bill was born to E. William and Jenny Lindberg on May 27, 1936, in Ironwood, Mich., the youngest of six children.
Following his 1954 graduation from Luther L. Wright High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1954-58 aboard two destroyers, the USS Collett and the USS Walke. Following his discharge, he attended Gogebic Community College and earned an undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Bill married Nancy Makela on Oct. 13, 1962. He taught high school science for the Elko County School District in Nevada from 1963 until his retirement in 1993.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Gordon, Jack and G. David; sister, Nancy; and baby granddaughter, Olivia Kemp.
Survivors include wife, Nancy; daughters, Lisa Kemp (Robert), Gwen and Jane; granddaughters, Alexandra, Lauren and Caroline; brother, Bob Lindberg (June); sisters-in-law, Jean Lindberg and Judy Makela and Sharon Usinger; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill’s favorite times were getting together with family, listening to “tunes” and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s Sunday broadcasts, rooting for the Tigers, Red Wings, Packers and the Wells Leopards, and attending Navy and class reunions. He still had people and places to see, cruises to take and much life to live.
Many thanks go to Boise’s Dr. Dan Zuckerman and St. Luke’s caring Mountain States Tumor Institute staff. Also thanks to United Hospice and the Cremation Society of Idaho for their comfort and concern.
At Bill’s request no formal services will be held.
