WOODRUFF, Wis. - Marjorie A. "Marge" Wolf, 92, of Beachway Drive, Mercer, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, in Woodruff.
She was born July 30, 1923, in Carbondale, Mich., daughter of the late George and Clara (Wagner) Jurgens. She was the first baby baptized at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Carbondale, where she was also confirmed and married. Marge attended Carbondale schools and evening business classes in Milwaukee.
She served for four years in the National Office of the Wisconsin Synod Ladies Mission Group and played the church organ for 15 years at the Grace Lutheran Church in Crivitz. Marjorie also served on the rescue squad for 14 years in Crivitz as a National EMT, and as an officer and leader for 25 years of 4-H groups recognized in Washington D.C.
She enjoyed cooking and canning and was an excellent baker. She especially enjoyed making coffee cakes for Christmas.
Marjorie was married to George Gross Sr. in 1939 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Carbondale. He preceded her in death in 1960. She was then married to Richard "Dick" Wolf in 1962 in Crivitz. He preceded her in death in 1999.
She is survived by three sons, George Gross and Jerry (Laura) Gross, both of Mercer, and James (Karen) Gross of North Venice, Fla .; a daughter, Lori (David) Kirt, of Menominee, Mich .; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Louise Kazmer, of Marinette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husbands, Marjorie was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Oldale; and a daughter-in-law, Sandra Gross. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Tim Maloney and David Maloney; a brother, George Jurgens Jr .; and sisters, Mildred Nelson, Myrtle Rasner and Hildegard Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mercer. Pastor Tim Johnson will officiate. Marjorie's family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Mercer Cemetery.
