NORWAY, Mich. — Rudolph R. Sokol, 80, of Norway, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at his home.
Rudy was born on Dec. 26, 1934, to the late Rudolph and Leone (Buckner) Sokol of Ironwood, where he grew up and graduated high school.
Rudy served his country in the U.S. Army and then went on to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He then worked for International Harvester as an Engineer in Ft. Wayne, Ind., for 10 years, then moved to Quinnesec, where he owned and operated the Tabu Bar for 9 years and then left for Parachute, Colo. to work with the Exxon Oil Shale Project.
Rudy is survived by four children, Peri (Bob) Derwinski of Spread Eagle, Wis., Todd (Laura) Sokol of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wendy (Mike) Sokol of Bradenton, Fla., and Renae (Dane) Rossato of Vulcan; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; three nieces; and two nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Morzenti; and brother, John Sokol.
A private service will be held.
