Hurley — An Oct. 13 meeting is planned on a request from the Eagle Bluff Golf Course board to have the city reduce the golf club’s annual $10,000 lease payment.
The city council met Thursday and finance committee chair Joanne Bruneau announced the Oct. 13 session.
Mayor Joe Pinardi said the golf club is experiencing financial difficulties.
The city owns the golf course property and charges the golf club an annual lease fee.
It’s not the first year the golf course representatives have come before the council to request lowering or waiving the fee.
Although the golf course has received ample rain and has been in excellent playing condition throughout this summer, individual memberships are down. There haven’t been enough younger people joining the club in recent years to offset the elderly members who are dying off or no longer playing golf.
A meeting of all members of Eagle Bluff is set for next Monday at 7 p.m. at the clubhouse. All club members are welcome to attend.
Bruneau said the Tuesday, Oct. 13, meeting between the Eagle Bluff Golf Course board of directors and city finance committee will be at 5:30 p.m.
