College board to have opportunity to improve pool, commnunity with vote

To the Editor:

“Go Bold, Go Gogebic.” What a bold statement Gogebic Community College has made in its new marketing campaign.

On Sept. 29, the college board will have an opportunity to do just that, “Go Bold.” The board will make a very bold statement to the community when it decides the fate of its pool.

Is the board willing to improve the facility that in 1993 was dedicate to students and higher education, and designed to provide opportunities for balanced physical education, social and recreational activities, or will they close the pool?

We doubt a strong vision for the pool was made, thinking the pool would take little to no effort to promote and to have a zero maintenance plan to maintain.

As Barracuda swim team parents and supporters of our community pool, we’d like to hear a positive, bold statement from the board that would hold the college accountable for the vision that it had in 1993 and save the asset that the pool provides to this community.

“Go Bold, Go Gogebic.”

Really? We will see.
