Helen Slining puts a tarp over her squash plants at the Norrie Park community garden Tuesday afternoon in anticipation of a possible frost that evening. She said she's still harvesting squash, tomatoes and green peppers, and figured covering her plot in the garden was a good idea as there are warmer temperatures forecast for the rest of the week. Slining is a big fan of the community garden, saying the $25 annual fee is well worth it. "They till and provide the manure and all the water we need. It's fenced in and we all have combination to the lock," she said. "I couldn't do this at home, with the fence and all. It was a very good year for the garden. It's almost October and we haven't had a frost yet."
