IRONWOOD, Mich. - June A. Anderson, 75, of Ironwood, passed away Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at her home with her family following a lengthy illness.
June was born on June 1, 1940, in Ironwood to Samuel and Tiami (Korhonen) Rappley. June attended Ironwood Area Schools and graduated in 1958. She continued her education in 1972 and graduated with an associate degree in applied business.
June held several distinguished government appointed positions with various agencies and was a proud Democratic supporter. She was very proud of her Native American heritage and worked as an Indian outreach worker for several years through the state of Michigan. She was also appointed to and involved in several committees.
June was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Raymond Anderson and Daniel Todd Anderson; a brother, Neil "Sonny" Rappley; her parents, Tiami and Samuel Rappley; and her good friend and ex-husband, Charles L. Anderson.
Surviving are two sons, Charles B. (Juli) Anderson, of Ironwood, and Brian S. Anderson, of Ironwood; a daughter, Cheryl L. Anderson (Dave Thaler), of Ironwood; three sisters, Myrna Jaster, Betty (Butch) Knight and Sharon Anderson; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by her special little buddy, Tazzy.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, at Ketola-Burla Funeral Home in Ironwood with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood and Hurley are assisting the family with arrangements.
June will be sadly missed by all who knew her. "May the great spirit watch over you as long as the grass grows and the water flows."
