Ironwood — A Wednesday, Oct. 14 meeting has been scheduled on the new assessor’s plat of Aurora Location parcels.
Developing the plat was approved by the Ironwood City Commission.
City manager Scott Erickson said Monday the public informational meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building.
There are a total of 29 property owners who must pay for their share of the costs of the plat over a five-year period, or all at once.
People living within the Aurora Land Association will now own the parcels.
The cost of the project is being split 50-50 between the city and homeowners within the land association.
On another matter, Erickson said a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held when the two-year U.S. 2 reconstruction project is completed. It has been handled by the Michigan Department of Transportation, but the city has conducted companion sewer and water work throughout the past two summers, in addition to resurfacing adjoining streets.
Final paving by Hebert Construction, of Iron River, was scheduled to get under way this week.
GIANT praised
During the commissioner comment section of Monday’s meeting, David Sim praised the efforts of the Gogebic-Iron Area Narcotics Team in arresting four people at his neighbor’s house on drug charges.
“It was a long time coming and I appreciate the work,” Sim said.
A traffic stop at a local gas station led to the apprehension of the drug suspects last week.
