Wakefield - Monday night marked the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recently purchased Wakefield Municipal Building.
More than 60 people attended the event, which included music by the Gogebic Range Band, presenting of the check to the Diocese of Marquette and coffee and desserts.
City council member Dick Bolen presented a brief history of city hall. The original city hall was dedicated in 1915, exactly 100 years ago, and cost the city $35,000.
The municipal building was purchased in October for $101,899 using general funds, and Father Anthony of the Diocese of Marquette was present Monday night to accept the check.
Father Anthony also performed a formal blessing of the building before Mayor Les Schneck cut the ribbon.
