MORRIS, Ill. — Lona E. (Holman) Huvila, 76, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, surrounded by her family at Walnut Grove Village, in Morris.
She was born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Willis and Lona (Rokser) Holman.
Lona is survived by her six children, Rachel (the late William) Condron, Maureen Pinnell, Donna Huvila, Earl (Karen) Huvila, Stormy (Thomas) Reiter and Carol and (Darren) Cissell; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; fond sisters, Mary (Gerald) Maki and Susan (James) George; and brother, Joseph (Sue) Rokser; also left to mourn her passing are many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Koscielny; her beloved brother, Bill Holman; grandson, Casey Reiter; and son in law, William Condron.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a wonderful sister and a loyal friend.
Lona enjoyed traveling, gardening and crafts. She loved Joe’s Pasty Shop and going to Little Girl’s Point. She cherished time spent with her church family and was a member of the Channahon United Methodist Church since 1975.
A special thank you to the staff at Regency Care Center and the Joliet Area Community Hospice staff for their kind and compassionate care these past days. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Lona’s memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
The funeral service will begin at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at The Maple Funeral Home in Channahon, with Pastor Steven Good officiating. Cremation rites will follow the services. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until services begin at 1:15 p.m.
