HURLEY, Wis. - Frank L. "Cloochi" Maffesanti, 95, of Pence, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Sky View Nursing Center in Hurley, with his family by his side.
He was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Forsyth Township, Mich., son of the late Andrew and Johanna (Forchini) Maffesanti, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Hurley in 1938. He then was employed in foundry work in Milwaukee and was a tool and die understudy in Detroit. Returning to the area, he worked in local mines until they closed and was employed with the Iron County Forest Service for ten years, retiring in 1972.
Frank was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hurley. He was an avid runner and cross country skier.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Frank in childhood, Angelo "Sharkey", Joseph "Pete" and John; and sisters, Catherine Maffesanti and Josephine Violetta.
Cremation has taken place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Church in Hurley, with the Rev. Frank Kordek OFM, celebrant.
Luncheon will follow at the Bell Chalet in downtown Hurley.
Rite of Committal and interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hurley, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 404 Iron St., Hurley, WI 54534.
