n Favorable weather conditions finally bring the first skiers and snowboarders of the season

UPSON, Wis. - The lack of snow and above average temps have made it a bit challenging for area ski hills to get up and going this year. Of late, favorable conditions have lead to an opening weekend of ski season for Whitecap Mountains Resort.
Officially opening on Friday, the hill originally planned on having only one lift and a couple runs open. However, with a wonderful sunny day and a hardworking staff, by the afternoon on Saturday they had three lifts and nine runs open.
Whitecap has a lead over the other ski hills in the area being the first to open and saw a great start to the season with over 40 people skiing on Saturday.
Of the areas that were groomed it was great snow for those hitting the slopes and the hill predicts they will have a good turn out for Christmas this upcoming week.
Indianhead opens today, Big Powderhorn is set to open Dec. 23 and Blackjack opens Dec. 26.
