David Ray Neff

DULUTH, Minn. - David Ray Neff, 82, of Superior, Wis., formerly of Ironwood, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in Duluth.

He was born June 13, 1933 in Flat River, Missouri, son of the late John and Leone(House) Neff. David attended school in Missouri and graduated from the Esther High School with the class of 1951.

From September 12, 1951 until September 1, 1972, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He enlisted in St. Louis and was trained in electronics at the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. David served in Korea, Japan, Europe, the Middle East, before returning to the States. He was stationed in various places throughout the United States including Cape Newenham, Alaska.

After retirement, David attended Northern Michigan University where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree and Master's Degree in Education. He taught at Gogebic Community College in Ironwood for 12 years. He enjoyed photography and travel.

He was married to the former Laurel Jean Westman on August 22, 1964 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ironwood. Laurel preceded him in death on August 4, 2002.

He is survived by two daughters, Jewel Ann (Paul) Gruwell and Anita Noel Neff, both of Duluth.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Gene and a sister Betty Harned. 

Cremation will take place and inurnment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood.
