HIGGINS LAKE, Mich. — Donna Marie Telling, 68, died at her Higgins Lake home on Dec. 23, 2015.
She was born Dec. 21, 1947, in Bessemer to John and Millicent (Trewhella) Re. Donna attended Bessemer schools until 1959, when she moved to Detroit with her mother and siblings to live with her stepfather, Thomas Yalonen. Completing her education in Detroit, Donna became a hairdresser, working first at J.L. Hudson in Southfield, then to Galveston, Texas, and back to Michigan at Curl Up and Dye in Houghton Lake.
Donna and Howard R. Telling were married Dec. 22, 1976, in Redford. In 1981, Donna established her own business, New Image Styling Salon, at Higgins Lake, which she owned and operated for 34 years.
Mrs. Telling was a Red Hatter and attended Markey Church in Roscommon. She enjoyed quilting, stained glass, ceramics, watching wildlife, puttering in her yard and flower garden and collecting rocks (especially Petosky and pudding-stones).
Donna was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather and dearly loved dogs, Keta and Ranger.
She is survived by her loving husband, Howard; two sisters, Linda (OC) Stevens, Brighton, and Darlene (Steve) Bailey, Lebanon, Tenn .; two brothers, John “Jay” (Dolly) Re, Romulus, and Thomas (Lesley) Yalonen, Trenton. In addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins, she will be dearly missed by two uncles, Joseph (Diana) Trewhella, Godfrey, Ill., and Thomas (Debra) Trewhella, Summerfield, Fla.
Walsh Funeral Home of Roscommon complied with her wish for cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
