Ironwood Township - The 2016 running of the Aspirus Grand View YooperBeiner Snowshoe Race/Tour is set for Saturday at Wolverine Ski Trail.
The event will feature a series of races, offering something for everyone.
In addition to 10-kilometer and 5k races, the day will feature a non-competitive 5k tour and a kids race.
The kids race, for ages 4 to 12, begins at 9:30 a.m., with the remaining events beginning at 11.
Registrations for the events are being held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday before the races.
The races are also open to "wellness teams," explained race director Susan Spaete, which consists of five or more people who compete against the other wellness teams.
Spaete said she hopes the YooperBeiner is able to capitalize on the enthusiasm from the recent Sisu cross-country ski race.
Spaete said the race was scheduled to "keep people in the groove. As long as they've trained, they might as well use it."
The YooperBeiner is a U.S. Snowshoe Association-sanctioned event and part of the Braveheart Snowshoe Race Series.
Participants can also register for the race online at yooperbeiner.zapevent.com.
