LANSING, Mich. - Clarence Richard Wasson, 71, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, in Lansing.
He was born, Jan. 10, 1945, the son of Clarence and Josephine (Phelan) Wasson of Watersmeet. He received both a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Northern Michigan University and was a Michigan State University alumni. He relocated to the Lansing area in 1973 and later worked for the state of Michigan's Department of Education.
Clarence became a self-employed business owner at the age of 35 when he purchased Kwik Kar Wash on South Cedar Street. He started his own commercial snow removal business as well as several other successful businesses through the years. He was an avid reader, loved Mexican food and spending time with family and friends.
Clarence will be remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and love for his children and grandchildren. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Jo Wasson.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Sandy Johnson; children, Renee (Todd) Miller, Sarah Wasson, Joshua (Michelle) Johnson, Jamie (Matthew) Mansberger and Megan Johnson; sister, Pat Ann Hilsabeck; grandchildren, Abbie, Alaina, James, Jordynn and another expected soon.
The family will receive relatives and friends, Monday, Feb. 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home-Holt Chapel in Holt. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at the Eureka Cemetery in St. Johns.
