Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties

MERCER, Wis. — Iron County residents are headed to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in a primary for the state Supreme Court, with residents of the town of Mercer also voting to narrow down the field of candidates seeking seats on the town board.
Six candidates are running for a pair of seats on the town board.
Incumbent John Sendra is facing off against Bill Brundage, James Davis, Gordon Kohegyi, Michael Lambert and Victor Ouimette.
The top four vote getters will advance to the April 5 general election, with the two with the most votes in the general election gaining seats on the town board.
The Supreme Court race features a trio of candidates, Rebecca Bradley, JoAnne Kloppenburg and Joe Donald.
All three claim their impartiality makes them uniquely suited to the job.
“The challenge for voters,” Kloppenburg told the Associated Press, “is to see who is most likely to deliver on that promise.”
Tuesday’s primary will eliminate one of the three, with the remaining two candidates advancing to the general election in April.
Voters will have to present a photo identification, such as a drivers license, to vote in this election. More information on the ID requirements can be found at bringit.wi.gov.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
