June Lantta

APPLETON, Wis. - June Lantta, 84, of Appleton, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.

June was born on June 15, 1931, in Ironwood, Mich., to the late John and Ina (Siirila) Frederickson. She married William R. Lantta on Jan. 20, 1951, in Ironwood; he preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2013.

June truly enjoyed her grandchildren and spending summers at the family cottage in northern Michigan. She was well-known for keeping in touch with her relatives and friends. She was a prolific letter writer, phone caller, and was very much connected with those she loved. June enjoyed baking and was famous for her coffee cakes. For many years, she was employed at Prange's in Appleton. She was also a long-time member of the Finnish Club.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Jill) Lantta; her daughter, LeeAnn (Gary) Spoehr; her grandchildren, Sophie (Tyler) Herr; William Gray Lantta; Laura (Tyler) Gibson and their daughter Nora; her sister-in- law, Elaine (Walter) Beardslee; and her brother-in-law, Archer Neider. June is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Anna Spoehr; father, John E. Frederickson; her mother and step-father, Ina and Frank Begalle; her infant son, William J. Lantta; her sister, Arlene Neider; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Turner.

Funeral services for June will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, with Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
