Hurley — The search for a manager of the newly merged Iron County Aging and Disability Resource Center and Aging Unit will continue after the desired candidate declined the position Wednesday.

The Iron County Department of Human Services will re-advertise the position, according to director Cally Kilger, who notified the Daily Globe of the candidate’s decision Thursday.

Members of the county’s human services board subcommittee responsible for interviewing applicants talked to a number of candidates for the position on Feb. 4 before making its recommendation to the full board on Feb. 22.

Following a closed session discussion of the candidates during the Feb. 22 meeting, the board voted to offer the position to the top candidate without identifying the name of the applicant.

The position is the result of the Dec. 17 integration of the Aging Unit of Iron County into the county’s Department of Human Services and ADRC.

According to the motion to offer the job to the desired candidate at the Feb. 22 board meeting, the candidate was offered a salary of $47,000 and if the candidate declined, the job would be re-advertised with a salary up to $47,000.

The board declined to reveal the names of any candidates applying for the position.
