WAKEFIELD, Mich. - Lloyd J. Lancour, 58, of Wakefield, and formerly of Marquette, entered eternal life Wednesday morning, Feb. 24, 2016, at his home, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Lloyd was born in Marquette on Dec. 23, 1957, a son of Lawrence and JoAnn (Hawkins) Lancour, and was raised in North Marquette. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School with the class of 1957, and enrolled at Northern Michigan University's Jacobetti Skill Center in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program.
Following graduation, he began a long career in heating, cooling and refrigeration until his retirement. Lloyd was very athletic and sports minded, earning a brown belt in karate. He also loved playing hockey and baseball, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings and Lions fan. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at deer camp. He was known for his "heart of gold," always willing to lend a hand where needed.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Heather (Hanson) Lancour; his daughter, Alycia Lancour; and son, Zachery Lancour, all of Wakefield; his parents, Lawrence and JoAnn Lancour of Marquette; siblings, Lawrence "Tinker" (Sandy) Lancour of Marquette, Dawn (Bob) Ervin of Sterling Heights, Mike "Lori" Lancour of Palmer, Kenny (Suzie) Lancour of Marquette, and Nancy (Ken) Onuoha of Lansing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home in Marquette on Sunday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. that afternoon. Rev. Leon Jarvis will preside.
A reception will follow in the reception room located at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
