DULUTH, Minn. - George Arnold Soderman, 77, of Hurley, Wis., passed away peacefully on March 6, 2016, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth with his family by his side.
He was born on April 11, 1938, in Bessemer, Mich., a son of the late George and Edith Soderman. He attended Luther L. Wright High School in 1956. George enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956 and has honorably discharged in 1960.
George was married to Elizabeth (Dee Dee) Constantini on June 25, 1966, at Melrose Park in Chicago; they were married for 50 years.
George worked in construction in the Chicago area and then moved to Hurley. He was the lead foreman for the construction of Copper Peak and was involved in many construction projects in the area. He then started his own construction company, Soderman and Sons Construction, while also providing his leadership skills in various organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Eagle Bluff Golf Club and the Gogebic Country Club. He resided during the winters with his wife in North Fort Myers, Fla., at Pine Lakes Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and fishing.
George loved all sports, especially fishing, hunting and golfing, but he was very passionate about football, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, Hurley Midgets and the Ironwood Red Devils.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Herman.
George is survived by his wife; two children, Robert S. Soderman (Sarah), and Dennis G. Soderman (Michele); his five grandchildren, Jonathon, Maria, Timothy, Amanda and Abbi; and his 11 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's the Seven Dolors in Hurley, Father Frank Kordek, OFM will officiate.
In lieu of sending flowers or plants, memorials to the family are preferred.
