KIMBALL, Wis. - Lisa Paulette (Henning) Waldros, of Kimball, tragically lost her life March 12 in a fire. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and dearest friend.
Lisa was born June 8, 1963, in Wakefield, Mich., to Michael and Lynda Henning. She grew up in Kimball and graduated from J. E. Murphy High School in Hurley, class of 1981.
Growing up, Lisa lived for all things horses, as anyone who knew her understood. She and her siblings spent more time in the barn and on horse back than they did under their own roof.
She was married in 1983 and had a daughter, Ashley, in 1987. They settled in Great Falls, Mont., and lived there for several years.
Lisa and Dean met in 1995, after Lisa and her daughter, Ashley, moved back to the area in the winter of '94. They had a daughter, Lynda, in 1997, and were married the following year on May 21, celebrating her birth.
Lisa has had many different jobs, from cleaning to babysitting, but the two that most people remember her from are the Iron County Fair Board (volunteer) and Bear Trap Inn (bartender). Lisa was passionate about the fair board because she wanted to pass the love of horses on to the next generations, but the Bear Trap will hold the most memories. People loved going there and seeing her smile, and maybe stealing a dance or two with her, if they were lucky enough.
Anyone could talk to Lisa, and she would listen and be a shoulder to cry on, someone to share a laugh with, or help with some chore or task. If you needed her, she was there.
Lisa loved all walks of life. Everyone was always welcome, no matter what their background was. She was a free spirit who enjoyed going to the beach to pick rocks, loved her animals and still spent more time in her barn than under her own roof. But above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially all the children in her life. They all brought her so much joy, light and laughter.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Waldros; two daughters, Lynda Waldros and Ashley (Jonathan) Matiska Herman; grandson, Jack Herman; step-son, Todd Hill; siblings, Paul (Karen) Henning, Cindy (Kenny) Waldros, Theresa (Joe Kasper) Henning, Michael (Roxanne Kokely) Henning and Crystal Henning; father, Michael (Jean Seiter) Henning; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, much extended family and many more friends.
She joined her mother, Lynda Henning; and her dear friend, Michelle O'Dea, in death, and will forever be riding free in Heaven.
A memorial gathering will be held at the Kimball Community Center Friday, March 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Sympathies may be sent to the family at 13884 N. Park Road, Hurley, WI 54534.
