HURLEY- The Hurley Chamber of Commerce invited chamber members and the community to salute local businesses at the Spring Out fundraiser on Saturday at Sharon's Coffee Company.

Rita Franzoi, of the Hurley chamber, said there were "fun" events for people to participate in, including a meat raffle and a 50-50 drawing.

For the meat raffle, Franzoi spun a wheel. When the wheel stopped, the person with the matching number won an assorted meat prize.

For people's listening pleasure, Bob Michaels, of Ironwood, played folk and rock music throughout the afternoon and into the evening while people danced to the rhythm of his guitar and harmonica.

Meanwhile, others socialized and had drinks at the cash bar.

In case people got hungry, there were appetizers provided by area restaurants. Desserts, assorted cheeses and meats and and other snacks were served.

Franzoi said thank you to residents who came out to support the fundraiser.

She said the support for local businesses in the community has been "fantastic."

"Local businesses are the heart of our community," she said. "It's important to support them and help keep them going."

Proceeds raised from the event will be used to fund future chamber events, Franzoi said.
