Jonquil A. 'Jackie' Haig

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Jonquil A. "Jackie" Haig, 71, of Ironwood, Mich., died Saturday evening, April 2, 2016, at United Hospital in St. Paul, with her loving family by her side.

The former Jonquil A. Hyde was born May 26, 1944, in Peoria, Ill., daughter of the late John and Dorothea (Redfern) Hyde, and graduated from high school in Wheatridge, Colo., in 1962. She then attended Colorado State College in Greeley, Colo., graduating in May 1967 with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. She resided in Iron River, Wis., Theodosia, Mo., Boulder Junction, Wis., and Ashland, Wis., moving to Ironwood in 2003.

Jackie loved reading and was currently serving as secretary of the Ironwood Carnegie Library Board. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing and flower gardening, and was current secretary of the 46th Parallel Planters Garden Club of Ironwood.

On Sept. 24, 1965, she married Donald B. Haig in Wheatridge, Colo. He survives.

Further surviving are a daughter, Jodi Gregoire, Hayward, Wis .; grandson, Brett Gregoire, Hayward; sister, Cindy (Dale) Coven, Aurora, Colo .; one niece; two nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Sandra Lindbeck, St. Paul, and Patricia (Emery) Jensen, Hurley, Wis.

Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased by a son, Michael Allen Haig, on Aug. 24, 2011; and sister, Amelia Gagne.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, at 11 a.m., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m., at McKevitt-Patrick Funeral Home, 305 N. Lowell St., in Ironwood, with Pastor Kurt Kovanen officiating.

Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Ironwood Carnegie Library, 235 E. Aurora St., Ironwood, MI 49938.
