Gordy 'Unk' Thoreson

WHITE PINE, Mich. - Gordy "Unk" Thoreson, 69, of White Pine, passed away on April 5, 2016, at home with his loving wife and family by his side.

He was born in Crystal Falls to Carl and Esther (Peterson) Thoreson on May 31, 1946. Gordy married Linda Hendrickson on Sept. 30, 1989. He worked for Copper Range for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam era veteran. Gordy was a member of the White Pine American Legion Nonesuch Post 462.

His family and friends will forever cherish their special memories. Gordy was known for his kindness to others. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Gordy loved to make beef jerky and share it with all his friends and relatives. He recently made a special batch with his niece and a special batch for one of his chemo nurses. His acts of kindness are too many to mention.

A special thank you goes out to his PA Brianne Sable and his special caring hospice nurse Melissa Miles. His family will be forever grateful for their kindness and helping them get through this difficult time.

Gordy is survived by his wife, Linda Thoreson; sons, Robert Thoreson of Tulare, Calif., and Ron (Nicole) Thoreson of Marianna, Fla .; two brothers, Kenneth "Bucko" and Terry "Turk" (Mary) Thoreson; three sisters, Darlene (Dick) Umbaugh, Anna (Don) Beleck and Bonnie (Lindy) Tadiello; five grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Helen Thoreson; many wonderful friends and family; and Gordy's special partner, his dog, Willie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers Dean, Dale "Butch," Glenn "Cully" and Carl Thoreson.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon.
