Ironwood - The Klassic Kruisers Car Club held its sixth annual pancake breakfast at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ironwood Sunday, raising funds for the club celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Organizers were pleased with the fundraiser, saying they saw a good turn out from both diners and club members.

"(Turnout) was good. I think we had about 200 people come through, which is about normal," said club president Linda Gustafson. "(We got) lots of compliments about everything.

"... We get waves (of people based on) when they get out of church."

Like last year, this year's fundraiser ran one hour longer than past years - although Gustafson said it was too early to determine whether the longer time impacted attendance.

After covering the club's basic operating costs, Gustafson said proceeds from the breakfast will help the club with its work in the community - which ranges from donating to the Hiawatha statue restoration project and helping area families in need, to supporting many of the youth sports in the area and the Iron County 4-H summer camp.

"We don't keep much of it at all," Gustafson said, mentioning floats in the local parades and trophies for the car shows in the summer, as the club's costs the fundraisers help cover.

This June the club will be hosting a car show for a group of motorcyclists stopping in the Hurley area. While Gustafson didn't have the specific details regarding the group, she said the club frequently gets asked to host small car shows as part of events - such as business openings.

Those interested in joining the club, or attending upcoming events, can visit the group's new Facebook page.

Gustafson said owning a classic car isn't a requirement for membership.
