Serving Gogebic, Iron and Ontonagon Counties
IRONWOOD - Local author Pat O'Neill will present selections from his new book, "Disciples of Critters," on Wednesday, April 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at The Golden Dragon in Ironwood.
In the book, O'Neill emphasizes "folks should live more like critters and eat and work to develop minds and bodies with the strength and energy to help each other maintain a healthier planet with vigor and vibe that might resurrect the planet's sense of humor."
In return, he said maybe the planet will smile at us and laugh with us occasionally.
While presenting, he will also read from previously published books while relating to experiences that reveal feelings and thoughts that travel with people, animals and plants of his work.
Lynne Wiercinski, Ironwood Carnegie Library assistant director, said all proceeds raised from the book sales and readings by O'Neill will serve and fund creative programs for children in the area.
Wiercinski said the library's Young Authors and Illustrators Group is one of the programs that O'Neill's events and book sales help fund.
During the school year, there will be several sessions each month for second through sixth grade students.
Journals, as are materials, snacks, and other resources are purchased with funds donated by O'Neill.
While the club always learns something new about poetry or writing, Wiercinski said the imagining is the important part for the group.
