Hurley - The members of the Iron County Board of Supervisors elected in the April 5 election were sworn in Tuesday, after which the members of the new board re-elected Joe Pinardi to another term as county board chairman.
The 12 members of the board re-elected for another term - Paul Mullard, Hurley; Pinardi, Hurley; Jack Prospero, Hurley; Larry Youngs, Hurley; William Thomas, Gile; John Smith, Kimball; Karl Krall, Saxon; Scott Erickson, Oma; Opal Roberts, Mercer; Thomas Thompson, Mercer; James Kichak, Mercer; and Brad Matson, Sherman - were joined in taking their oaths by Patrick Hanson, of Upson.
The other newcomer elected to the board, Ken Saari, wasn't present at the meeting.
One seat on the county board, representing Mercer in District 11, was unfilled Tuesday as there needs to be a recount in the race between incumbent Victor Ouimette and John Sendra.
Along with electing Pinardi as board chair, the board also re-elected Kichak as its vice chairman.
Kichak, Youngs, Hanson, Thompson and Erickson were elected to the county's highway committee; while Krall, Thomas, Roberts, Mullard and Matson were elected to the county's agriculture and University of Wisconsin Extension committee.
Iron County Clerk Michael Saari told the Daily Globe state law requires the members of these two committees be elected to by the county board, whereas the county's other committees are appointed by Pinardi.
The board also agreed adopt Roberts Rules of Order, named Chippewa Valley Bank as the county's official depositor and the Iron County Miner as the county's official newspaper.
