Doreen E. Mattila

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. - Doreen E. Mattila, 69, died peacefully on April 25, 2016, in Oconomowoc. Doreen was born on Sept. 1, 1946, in Erwin Township, Mich., to Reino and Elsie Mattila. She graduated from Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood, Mich., in 1964.

Doreen was a retired paralegal and project manager who worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. She was a devoted mother and friend who loved spending time with her pet dog, Peanut, her family and friends, and gardening.

Doreen is survived by her three children, Desirae (Michael) Janowiak, of Pelham, Ala .; Sandon Freiherr, of Waukesha, and Jason (Sasha Lepsch) Freiherr, of Pewaukee; and grandchildren, Hudson and Porter Janowiak. Also surviving is a sister, Arline Johnson; and niece and nephews, Robin Johnson, Darryl Johnson, Keith Johnson and Brett Johnson.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents, Reino and Elsie Mattila.

A service to celebrate Doreen's life will be held today at 11 a.m. at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha, WI, 53188. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doreen's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Doreen's memory.
